MG Gundam AGE-1 Titus

As the debut entry in the Master Grade AGE lineup, the AGE-1 Titus sets a high bar for the series by balancing a premium finished look with a streamlined, accessible build experience. This kit perfectly captures the "Power Type" silhouette of the AGE-1’s heavy-combat wear.

Product Highlights

  • "Show-Ready" Internal Frame: Designed with a focus on mechanical realism, the internal structure features intricate detailing in every part, showcasing the engineering logic behind the suit’s massive power.

  • Master Grade Articulation: Specifically engineered for heavy-duty action, this MG offers a superior range of motion that allows for the wide-stanced, high-impact poses characteristic of its close-quarters combat style.

  • Advanced Mechanical Gimmicks: The kit includes specialized features such as a rotation mechanism in the forearms, adding another layer of realism to its punching and grappling poses.

  • Premium Finishing: Utilizing the 1/100 scale, this model incorporates surface details and internal mechanisms that provide significantly more depth and "play value" for collectors.

    MG sized HG

The beefy version of the modular AGE-1 Gundam, piloted by Flit Asuno.

    Aesthetics:
This kit is a surprising turnaround on the AGE-1 Normal, which leaned into realism or an industrial look with its vented surfaces to give an impression of a giant mecha. The Titus goes the other way and forgoes all of the detail, keeping a more child friendly aesthetic with huge red panels and barely any details.
Because it's a modular mobile suit, the Titus has the same torso and head as the Normal, with its huge race car spoiler and the same cockpit logo.
Looking at the HG Titus, the two of them look and feel almost identical - Whether you think that's a positive or a negative, I'll leave up to you. On the one hand it IS meant to look more fun and toy like, but on the other hand, there's not much of an MG experience here.
There are four sticker sheets, 1 decal sticker sheet, 1 dry transfer decal sheet, 1 foil backing sheet for the eyes and head camera (you'll need to paint in black) and 1 foil sheet with eye and camera stickers in case you don't want to paint anything.

    Mechanics:
The AGE-1 Titus uses 38 polycaps, which is a lot compared to when it was released. It makes the articulation feel floppy and spongy, though not to a catastrophic degree.
The articulation is average, with its ankles being its strong point and the shoulders being a little too limited, because they don't lend well to the big lunge poses that you'd want to put a punching character into.
The shoulders open and the cuffs extend, that's all.
Just like the Normal it has a pop-out cockpit.

    Equipment:
Being a mano-a-mano fisticuffs brawler, it comes with... nothing. No equipment at all, but it does have a set of beam effects:
14 beam spikes, 4 for each shoulder and 3 for each knee
1 Beam effect holder with 16 slots for your aforementioned 14 beam spikes, just to confuse you, I guess.
2 beam-discs for clothes-hanger moves that fit around the forearms (disassembly required) and they are specific to each arm
6 finger-replacement "hands" - 2 fists, 2 karate chops, 2 'I'm coming to tickle ya' spread open fingers
4 1/100 Flit figures, 2 pilots in civvie and pilot clothing, 2 standing also in civvie and pilot clothes (leftovers from Normal)
    1 crotch base adapter

    Conclusion:
I actually really looked forwards to getting this kit for a long while and it's a little disappointing. It's overly simple and there's nothing to distinguish this as being a Master Grade kit, the Normal is far more interesting and better looking with more equipment.
That being said, the MSRP on this kit is pretty low, it's a 'cheap' MG kit relative to other releases.
I'm kind of surprised of just how much it looks like the HG, just scaled up and the build of the limbs is not that different.
You can sort of throw it into a bunch of action poses, but it always feels like it's fighting you because of how bulky the thighs and shoulders are - They get stuck on the body and it can't even stand with its legs straight down, the thighs are too fat. In fact the HG has better torso movement..?
Visually, it's pretty cool if you're into the toy aesthetic. I like it, I think it's fun, I just wish they had done a little more with the detail.
